A Month in DC

WOW! I’ve been in DC for a little over a month and I can’t believe it. I’m currently sitting on the roof listening to Taylor Swift and Lucy Dacus while drinking a San Pellegrino — this is the high life. I sat up here working on my research proposal while watching the most beautiful sunset with the National Cathedral in the background.

I’m still deciding what I want this blog to be. I know that I use writing to process all my feelings, especially the ones I try not to let myself feel. But life’s feeling good right now so now is not the time for that type of writing (think Joan Didion’s “The Year of Magical Thinking”).

So although my eye twitch is back, I’m writing to let you know I’m happy. It might be the summer sun or that I finished my last Sorkin show, but I’m enamored by daily life. I love my friends here (old and new), hot girl walking around the city, exploring new neighborhoods, and going to as many museums as possible. I miss my friends at home nearly as much as I miss my Hector’s carne asada fries. Give me a call so I can hear your lovely voice and let’s go on lots of hot girl walks through Salt Lake’s beautiful neighborhoods when I get home. But for now, I’m learning to stop and smell the roses — or peonies in this case.
